Team Training Update – HHSRS Certification Achieved

We’re pleased to share that nine members of The Mould Company team, including all of our property inspectors, successfully completed the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) course this week.

The HHSRS is a key part of the government’s approach to assessing housing conditions, with a focus on identifying and addressing potential health and safety hazards in residential properties. This training ensures our team is fully equipped to recognise and report on the 29 hazards outlined in the system, including those most commonly associated with damp and mould.

By completing this course, our team is now even better prepared to:

  • Carry out thorough, compliant property inspections
  • Identify and report Category 1 & 2 hazards
  • Support councils and housing associations in meeting their legal obligations
  • Contribute to safer, healthier homes for tenants

At The Mould Company, we remain committed to professional development and continuous improvement, ensuring we offer the highest possible standards of service and compliance support.

Well done to the team on this important achievement!

Awaabs Law

Preparing for Awaab's law - Our Support for Housing Associations and Councils

As you’ll be aware, Awaab’s Law is coming into effect from October 2025, introducing strict timeframes for addressing serious hazards such as damp and mould in social housing. Landlords will be legally required to investigate and begin resolving these issues within 24 hours in emergency cases.

At The Mould Company, we are fully prepared to support our housing partners in meeting these new legal obligations and ensuring tenant safety. To help you respond quickly and efficiently, we’ve implemented the following:

Priority Contact Channels – We now have a dedicated priority email address and phone number for urgent cases requiring action within 24 hours.
Area-Based Inspectors – Our inspectors are assigned to specific regions, enabling us to attend properties the next working day to carry out thorough inspections.
Detailed Inspection Reporting – We continue to provide clear, detailed reports to councils and housing associations, and have now introduced a tenant-friendly version to leave behind after every visit—ensuring transparency and peace of mind.
Collaborative Working – We are actively working with our existing contracts to streamline communication, prioritise urgent cases, and deliver the level of service and reliability we are known for.

We understand how vital it is to act quickly and thoroughly when tenants' health and safety is at stake.

Our team is ready to support you through these regulatory changes and help maintain compliant, safe, and healthy homes.
